In a blink of an eye, summer is winding down, school has started, and the back-to-school vaccine events are busy once more. Tarrant County Public Health and the Immunization Collaboration of Tarrant County’s annual Back-to-School Immunization are excited to bring vaccines into the community to get kids ready for classes.
To staff these events, all Immunization clinics at our brick-and-mortar locations are closed for the month of August. If you need routine vaccines, everyone is welcome to walk-in to any of our events. Find more information and the locations of the Back-to-School Immunizations event page to see what fits best for you. Don’t forget that adults need immunizations too!
A new state law regarding Mobile Food Unit Inspections goes into effect starting September 1, 2023. This new law makes obtaining a mobile food unit permit much easier for our vendors. Gone are the days getting of a patchwork of city mobile food unit permits, now all mobile food unit permits will be issued by Tarrant County Public Health for any mobile food unit operator wishing to conduct business in Tarrant County. We also created a new appointment process to make permitting easy and convenient for mobile food unit operators in Tarrant County.
This West Nile Virus season has been very active, and we continue to see positive mosquitoes across the county. Stop mosquitoes before they start by dumping standing water, and regularly change pet water and bird baths. Protect yourself by using EPA-approved insect repellent, keeping grass, bushes, and shrubs trimmed, and wearing long sleeves and pants. I know in this heat that can be difficult to do, but with these tips, it will help you and your family be mosquito free.
