The mission of Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) is to use our expertise to advance the community's health through accountability, quality and innovation.

Since its inception in the 1950s, Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has been a valuable local resource by providing services aimed at promoting, achieving and maintaining a healthy standard of living to Tarrant County residents.

Public Health administration office is located at the Dr. Marion J. Brooks Building at 1101 S. Main Street in Fort Worth, Texas.

TCPH offers a scope of services as diverse as the county's population. With a dedicated staff of more than 400 public health professionals and annual funding resources totaling approximately $65 million, TCPH services touch everyone, every day and everywhere.

As of July 2024, Dr. Brian Byrd has assumed the position of director and local health authority for Tarrant County Public Health.

Brian Byrd is a former Fort Worth City Council member and has served on multiple non-profit and government boards. He is also a board certified family physician and has spent most of his career in healthcare management entrepreneurship, and direct patient care.

Brian Byrd grew up in Tarrant County, where he lives with his wife, Stephanie. They have three grown children.

Office of Data and Informatics Services

This office maintains multiple health-related surveillance systems that collect data from hospitals and clinics across North Texas, and provides that data to community leaders, decision makers and partner agencies in order to facilitate decision-making.

HIPAA Compliance

This office oversees Public Health's efforts to comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, as well as trains staff in the proper handling of Personal Health Information.

Workforce Development

Provides staff development opportunities to promote staff competencies, facilitates the department’s workforce development plan training, Continuing Education (CEs) training and oversees the department’s internship program.
