B. B. Paddock served first as Editor of the Fort Worth Democrat then as Editor of the Fort Worth Gazette. The Democrat became the first daily newspaper in Fort Worth, starting daily service on July 4, 1876. Rancher George B. Loving created the Gazette by combining the resources of the Democrat and the Texas Livestock Journal. The first issue of the Gazette appeared on June 30, 1882, with Paddock remaining Editor.
