Overview
The current Fort Worth YMCA started in 1890. From 1890 to 1905, the organization operated out of different rented rooms in buildings downtown. The first building, located at Monroe Street and Tenth, was built in 1905. In 1925, the Salvation Army bought this building, and the YMCA moved to its current location at 512 Lamar Street.
The items in this collection include photographs, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, videotapes, slides and negatives, ledgers, business records, maps and construction documents. Some items in this collection were identified by YMCA staff as from the 1924 Cornerstone time capsule. These items have been organized into five series: Time Capsule, YMCA Leadership and Branch Histories, Photographs and Media, Business Records and Oversized.
