Village Creek Collection
Historical Note
The Village Creek Collection contains materials related to archeological digs at various locations along the Trinity River in Tarrant County, the majority coming from digs in the Kennedale area. These digs were conducted as a field school for the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) Department of Sociology and Anthropology students in the 1990s, and was directed by Dr. Jeffrey R. Hanson, who was a professor of Anthropology at UTA from 1986 through 2001.
The land near Village Creek in Kennedale was a Native American campsite dating to 2000 BC. Multiple sites were dug in these Kennedale areas, and there is an additional site near Eagle Mountain Lake represented in the collection.
