Historical Note

The Tarrant County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service was established in 1914 to offer information and education in agriculture, environmental stewardship, youth and adult life skills, leadership, and community development. The extension works cooperatively with public and private universities, agencies, and organizations to serve the educational needs of Tarrant County.

Scope and Contents

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office of Tarrant County donated materials covering the history of the organization from 1914 to 2014, as well as a library of publications from various sources including the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Materials include scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, publications, maps, and drawings.

This collection includes the following materials:

  • Five scrapbooks covering the history of the organization from 1914 to 2014. The scrapbooks include newspaper clippings, programs, yearbooks, and materials relate to Women's Home Demonstration Clubs in Tarrant County.
  • Newspaper clippings and documents about the Tarrant County Extension office, activities, and various Home Demonstration clubs in the county.
  • Various photographs and copies of photographs showing club members, officers, events, etc., c. 1940s
  • Four Centennial Garden drawings, c. 2014
