David O'Kane Collection

Summary: Donor gave items to Archives because of his family's connection with Fort Worth. His parents were Gardner Lewis Kane (a commander in the Army during WWI and WWII) and Grace Snelling Kane (an Army field nurse during WWI). His grandfather was David Rodolpho Snelling, a Civil War U.S. Calvary officer who became chief of cavalry scouts for General Sherman on his march to the sea in 1864. David R. Snelling was the hero in the historical novel The Unionist by Stephan Harrel.
