J. D. Johnson Collection
Summary: J. D. Johnson was born August 6, 1938 in Falls County, Texas. He was the manager of Southwestern Bell for about 30 years until retiring in 1986. In 1963, he became a member of the Saginaw City Council, then served as Saginaw's mayor for three terms until 1986. In 1986, Johnson ran as the Republican candidate for Tarrant County's Precinct Four Commissioner and won the election. He held the office from 1987-2020.
His collection contains photographs from his childhood and political career, scrapbooks, political ephemera, recognition awards, election campaign materials, and records from his terms serving as Saginaw's mayor and Precinct Four's commissioner.
