Scope and Contents
Series I: The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA), 1882-2008
The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) Collection contains records documenting the association's history, administrative actions, and the southwestern cattle industry in general.
Subseries I: Association Records, 1887-2008, consists of administrative records about the organization’s actions. The folders are primarily arranged by subject: directories, financial records, law enforcement, membership records, news and information, and correspondence of former association president Chanslor E. Weymouth. The directories were given to the TSCRA administration and contain brief biographical information about the association’s directors and officers. Membership records contain correspondence, membership updates, and information about members’ brands. The files are arranged alphabetically by last name. The “news and information” folders contain information about TSCRA and the cattle industry as found in magazines, newspapers, and the Internet. The documents were likely collected by Crystal Bryant of the Public Affairs Department, who regularly distributed news information to TSCRA employees.
Subseries II: Publicity Material, 1882-2008, contains printed material to promote TSCRA and the Texas cattle industry in general. The series includes issues of The Cattleman magazine, event programs, brochures, books, and miscellaneous mementos.
Subseries III: Addendum, 1878-2008, contains hardcover books on various Texas history subjects, magazines and pamphlets on Texas history, subject file materials. Some materials relate to the Cattle Raisers Association.
Series II: The Dianne Hoffman and Indi Nancy Butler Memorial Hymnal Collection, 1808-1982
Hymnals were donated by Dalton Hoffman in honor of his wife, Dianne Hoffman, and his daughter, Indi Nancy Butler. The denominations covered by the hymnals include Baptist, Catholic, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Christian Science, Church of Latter Day Saints, Congregational, Episcopal, United Evangelical, Jewish, Lutheran, Methodist, Nazarene, Presbyterian, Reformed Church, Christian Reformed, Seventh Day Adventist, Advent Christian, and United Brethren.
Series III: World War I and Military Collection, 1906-2000
This series consists of U.S. military records, artifacts, photographs, postcards, ephemera, publications, documents, books, and correspondence. Many of the materials pertain to the daily life and military campaigns of the officers and soldiers stationed at Camp Bowie in Fort Worth during World War I. These items were previously on loan from the donor for exhibit during centennial of World War I.
Series IV: Texas History, 1878-2009
This series contains hardcover books, magazines, and pamphlets on various Texas history subjects, Texas road maps, and scrapbooks. The donor has also supplied a large amount of materials to the Archive's Subject Files and Biographical Files. The subjects of this series include law enforcement, ranching, frontier life, industry, biographies, Texas Centennial and Sesquicentennial, Republic of Texas, Texas military history/the Confederacy, aviation, and more.
Series V: Tarrant County History, 1850-2020, undated
This series contains materials related to Tarrant County and Tarrant County history from 1850 to the present. It includes books, directories, correspondence, publications, ephemera, documents, records, and biographies on local individuals. The series also has a large number of artifacts, letterheads/stationary, menus, and wholesale catalogs from Tarrant County businesses.
Series VI: Postcards, 1909-2020, undated
This series contains scans of Fort Worth and Tarrant County area postcards loaned to the Archives by Dalton Hoffman for digitization. Physical items will be donated to the Archives at a future date.

Series VII: Images and Photographs, late 1800s-2000, undated
This series contains images, photographs, and reproduction images and photographs that document the history of Tarrant County. The subjects include businesses, local families and individuals, railways, Camp Bowie, aviation, and buildings. Some physical items are filed in the collection, but most of the items were loaned to the Archives by Dalton Hoffman for digitization then returned.
