Fort Worth Genealogical Society Collection

Historical Note

The Fort Worth Genealogical Society is a non-profit, educational corporation founded in 1957. They operate in partnership with the Genealogy and Local History Department of the Fort Worth Public Library to achieve their mission of encouraging the study of genealogy and to assist the Library to acquire genealogical and historic research materials. They work to maintain public interest in genealogy, collaborate in devising efficient methods for genealogical research, and publish and disseminate genealogical and historical information to the public related to the pioneers of Tarrant County. The Fort Worth Genealogical Society began publishing a monthly newsletter in 1957, which eventually became the now quarterly newsletter, Footprints, which features solicited unpublished Texas related material with priority given to Tarrant and surrounding counties.
