Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau Collection

HISTORICAL NOTE

The Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau (FWCVB) was founded in 1965 and incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1986. It was established to promote public interest in the City of Fort Worth and the metropolitan area. Their goal is to increase tourism and the resident population by marketing the area’s attractions, amenities, and public facilities.

To create their promotional materials, the FWCVB photographs events and sites of interest in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The FWCVB Collection contains thousands of images that they used in their promotional materials from the late 1980s through the 1990s.

SCOPE AND CONTENTS

The Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau Collection consists of about 15,000 slides as well as some photographs and negatives of local buildings, businesses, events, and landmarks. The images were created by the FWCVB for the publicity of the city. They are dated from the 1980s to 2002.
