Adrienne C. and William Clay Collection

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

William Clay has held the position of Principal Double Bass of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra since 1995. Throughout that time, he has been active within the collective of musicians, at times serving as chairman of both the Artistic Advisory and Orchestra Musicians Committees. During the labor dispute and work stoppage of 2015-16, he was actively involved with efforts in media communication as well as participation in benefit concerts and public demonstrations. Since coming to North Texas, he has taught classes and lessons in music, both privately and at Texas Wesleyan University and University of North Texas. He also served on the board of Spectrum Chamber Music Society.

Adrienne Cox Clay is a Fort Worth native. She and Bill met in 2007 and married in 2013. She was an active supporter of her husband and the musicians of the Fort Worth Symphony during the strike by participating in musician events such as concerts and marches. Adrienne is the daughter of esteemed former community members (now deceased) Mr. and Mrs. Virgil M. Cox, Jr. (Barbara). Adrienne received her master’s of library science from the University of North Texas in 2022. She has worked at the Judith C. Carrier Library, Tarrant County College Southeast Campus, Documentary Arts in Dallas, and the Tarrant County Archives.
