A New Director, and Ongoing Issues

As the new Director and Local Health Authority for Tarrant County Public Health, I am passionate about having our health department be the best. We will allow data to be our guide as we work to improve the health outcomes of all Tarrant County residents.

Speaking of data, have you seen our heat-related illness (HRI) dashboard? This dashboard contains the number of ER visits that are due to HRI, what the high and low temperature was for each day, and the different demographics of those who went to the emergency room. This heat-related illness data page, along with our heat injuries page, gives you any and all information heat-related so you can better plan during these hot summer days.

Since it is hot and humid here in Tarrant County. Public Health staff are still keeping pace with ongoing mosquito surveillance efforts. Check out the many traps that are being tested around Tarrant County. You can learn more about our extensive mosquito surveillance program on our website

As we keep moving through the summer, our annual Back to School Immunizations event will be starting soon. Our full schedule is posted on our website. Remember, you don’t have to wait until the event, you can schedule an appointment to be seen in our clinics now, by calling 817-248-6299.

Stay cool!
