Truancy

Unfortunately, some students, for whatever reason, fall through the cracks and begin a spiral downfall that ultimately leads to dropping out of school. There is a tremendous ripple effect that impacts a community many years later when a child becomes truant and drops out of school.

1. The truant misses an opportunity to get a quality education to better him or herself.
2. The school district loses revenue each time a child misses instruction. Dollars that would have otherwise been spent on children in schools in the Fort Worth Independent School District.
3. Truants who have nothing better to do tend to break the law and become a problem for neighborhoods and law enforcement.
4. Companies base their decisions to locate in certain areas based on the number of college graduates.
