Tarrant County Tax Office Suspending Face to Face Transactions
Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector, Wendy Burgess, announces that “All Tarrant County Tax Office locations will suspend direct customer transactions beginning Thursday, March 19, 2020 for the safety of our employees and the community,” Burgess said. “The Tax Office is not closed. Employees will continue to provide services to those who usually visit a Tax Office location by accepting transactions by drop box, phone or mail. Customers are also encouraged to use the Tax Office website to conduct business.”
Citizens may make payments or renew auto registration in person by using a Tax Office drop box located at any Tarrant County Tax Office location available for use between 7 am and 5 pm Monday-Friday or a Tarrant County Credit Union drop box anytime at the following locations:
• 100 E. Weatherford Street, Downtown Fort Worth - on the west side of the County Administration Building - facing Main Street
• 645 Grapevine Highway, Hurst - on the northwest side of the Sub-Courthouse
• 6713 Telephone Road, Lake Worth - on the front side of the Sub-Courthouse
Only checks, money orders or cashier’s checks will be accepted. Please make sure items are clearly marked “Tax Office”. Receipts will be mailed within 10-14 days.
Property owners may make payments by calling 817-884-1110. Have your account number ready or Press 0 to speak to an agent if you do not have your account number, or if you are making a partial payment of the total due. Payments can also be made online at https://taxonline.tarrantcounty.com/etax. Fees will apply for these options.
• Debit/Credit (American Express, Mastercard, Visa or Discover) cards are accepted by phone or online. No gift cards, payroll cards, etc.
• E-Checks accepted.
Property owners may request property tax payment plans by calling 817-884-1100, or by sending an email to:
DelinquentTAX@TarrantCounty.com. Additional information is available on the Tax Office website at www.tarrantcounty.com.
Property owners can pay their property taxes by mailing a check, money order or cashier’s check to Wendy Burgess, Tax Assessor-Collector, P.O. Box 961018, Fort Worth, TX. 76161.
Vehicle registrations may be renewed 90 days before the expiration date, or up to six months after the expiration date if you have not received a citation for expired registration. Visit www.texas.gov to process your registration.
Titles, disabled placards and other motor vehicle services paperwork can be mailed to 100 E Weatherford Fort Worth, TX 76196 or use the drop box inside each tax office building lobby 8am to
4:30 pm Monday through Friday excluding holidays. Include a check, money order or cashier’s check with your paperwork. Note your daytime phone number and email address for any questions we may have. We will complete transactions and mail back to you.
Governor Greg Abbott issued a statement on March 16, 2020, granting a temporary extension to obtain initial registration, renewal of registration, and renewal of a permanent disabled parking placard. Governor Abbott also granted a temporary extension for an individual with an expired 30-day temporary permit to obtain another permit or Texas registration. Effective immediately, there is no requirement for a title application to be submitted within a specified time.
