Judge Bill Brandt has a distinguished record of achievement in military service and commercial aviation. After graduating from Grapevine High School, he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in History and General Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1977, he then served on active duty in the United States Air Force for nine years and another 21 years in the USAF Reserve. During his military career, he commanded Air Expeditionary Groups in Pakistan in 2003 and Iraq in 2004.

Judge Brandt flew for FedEx for 28 years, retiring as a Captain in 2018. He was a Line Check Airman for 10 years, received the FedEx Bravo Zulu Award for the first ever FedEx flight into Shenzhen China, and was a Federal Flight Deck Officer for nine years.

 

Judge Brandt's academic achievements include an MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2000 and a Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2016. At Texas A&M he was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. After passing the Texas Bar Exam, he was sworn in by Texas Supreme Court Justice Don Willet.

Elected as Justice of the Peace in 2018, Judge Brandt serves Northeast Tarrant County, focusing on civil and criminal cases, truancy, and administrative hearings. He introduced a mediation program in 2018.  He was elected Administrative Judge by his Tarrant County peers in 2019 and joined the Tarrant County Bail Bond Board in 2023. He has been a resident of Southlake since 1988, where he lives with his wife of 46 years, their three grown children, and 11 grandchildren. They are active members of a local Lutheran church.
