Mandatory Job Club Workshops
2024 Workshop Schedule
Tarrant County Housing Assistance Office (TCHAO) has resumed in-person Transitional Skills Classes for all Job Club participants.
Transitional Skills Classes are mandatory for the head of household and all household members 18 years and older who do not earn an annual income that exceeds $15,000 or are not enrolled in school full-time (12 hours). Proof of enrollment is required.
Please note: You are responsible for returning to any workshops/classes if you are in-between jobs or are no longer working or in school full-time!
If you are disabled and/or elderly (58 or older), you are exempt from attending classes; however, you must provide supporting documentation to prove you meet one of the conditions for exemption.
Classes are scheduled 9 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. on the 2nd Monday of each month. If you are unable to attend a Monday class, you must choose one of the following options: (1) attend an alternate class listed on the Classes and Workshops Schedule (click on the link below) OR (2) attend a class offered outside of the TCHAO; however you MUST provide proof of attendance within the same month you attended to receive credit.
Due to limited meeting space, children are ONLY allowed to attend SATURDAY classes at the TCHAO.
REMEMBER, YOU MUST FOLLOW THE TARRANT COUNTY DRESS CODE WHEN COMING TO ANY OF THESE CLASSES OR YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED IN AND YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT!
Tarrant County Housing Assistance Office (TCHAO) Policy
TCHAO will conduct interim re-examination in each of the following instances:
- For families receiving the Earned Income Disallowance (EID), TCHAO will conduct an interim re-examination at the start and conclusion of the second 12 month exclusion period (50 percent phase-in period).
- If the family has reported zero income, TCHAO will conduct an interim re-examination every six months as long as the family continues to report that they have no income.
Additionally, families with zero income are required, to attend meetings and workshops, etc., designed to assist the family in becoming gainfully employed and/or as follow-up procedures to determine any change in income -- such as attend monthly update meetings. Missing any two consecutive meetings may result in termination of assistance.
Please note per TCHAO's Administrative Plan, your housing assistance payments can be terminated for violations of TCHAO's Policy regarding families with zero income, so it is vital that you attend these very important mandatory classes.
